According to an internal email sent by Allegheny County Jail Warden Orlando Harper to jail employees, 25 incarcerated individuals and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19.
It’s unclear, though how many total positive cases there are in the facility. On March 4, 60 positive cases were listed on the jail’s website. A web update labeled this morning, March 5, showed a total of 70 cases, but just 10 additional infections among the incarcerated. It is unclear whether the cases reported in the past few hours had been factored in.
As it has been for the past 12 months, the Pittsburgh Current will continue to update the COVID spread at the Allegheny County Jail.
