Breaking: Allegheny County Suffers first COVID-19 Death

The Allegheny County Health Department announced this morning the first death in the county from COVID-19.

According to a release: “The person was an adult who had been hospitalized. There will not be any additional information provided at this time in order to respect the family’s privacy. A media briefing will be held later this afternoon with details forthcoming.

“Additionally, there are 31 positive cases of COVID-19 in Allegheny County. Of those cases, five are hospitalized. Additional results are expected to be received throughout the day.”

According to a story from Stephen Caruso of our news partners, the Pennsylvania Capital-Star, the Pa. Department of Health identified 103 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, bringing the statewide total to 371 cases.
