Kick your month off right with a seriously cool event: Am I Gross? Fest. Featuring two jam-packed days of hardcore, punk and some bands that kinda fall into both or neither category, the fest lineup prioritizes women, people of color and queer and trans artists. Philly’s merciless rippers HIRS and alt-slack-rockers Early Disclaimers from Florida are just a couple of the out-of-towners on the bill, and Pittsburgh is strongly represented as well: jammy pop-punk trio Calyx (check out their song “Bad Birds” below), hardcore supergroup De Rodillas, and fuzzy punks Medium Ugly are just a few not to miss locals. The fest, happening the first weekend of November at the Bloomcraft building, benefits Prevention Point Pittsburgh, a harm-reduction organization provides a variety of services including counseling, narcan training HIV and STD screenings and safe needle exchanges, so you can feel extra stoked on the party vibes. Friday’s show starts at 8 p.m. and will cost ya $10. Saturday’s lineup is in two parts, starting with a matinee from 5-7 p.m., and resuming at 9:30 p.m. Entry for both Saturday shows is $15-20.
