Why go out for Black Friday shopping when you can just stay home with your laptop and a six pack? In most cases, mail order is preferable to long lines and migraine-inducing mall lighting. But before you write off leaving the house all together, consider starting your holiday shopping (or at least your holiday rockin’) at the Government Center’s Black Friday party.

This year, Black Friday is also Record Store Day, and the Government Center (located at 519 East Ohio St.,in the Northside) will have some exclusive releases, not to mention 15% off used records, and 3 for $1 clearance records. Pick of some stuff for you friends, your family, and yourself (the store also carries an assortment of turntables, tape decks, and other necessities) and stick around for a full day of live music from local artists, including String Machine, The Childlike Empress, Rave Ami, Drauve, Chameleon Treat, Throwjoy, Bonnie & the Mere Mortals and New York’s Shake the Baby Till the Love Comes Out.

The all-ages, all day event is free, and BYOB, so bring everyone, and maybe a beer or two.

Call 412-208-3282 or visit www.thegovernmentcenter.com for more info.
