In a short period of time, Pittsburgh musician/artist/producer Inez has accomplished a lot.
In December she released a 21-cut R&B/Soul record called Voicemails and Conversations. A record she says is about “my navigation through love and growth as a Black woman.” Inez is hoping a new Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign will help take her career, along with her band, The Homewood Sound Machine, to the next level.
Called”Inez’s Next Big Steps” is looking to raise $12,000 to be spent thusly:
“This campaign will fund (in order of precedence) the album’s lead visual “Clouds” featuring Clara Kent, seed funding for merchandise production, 6 months of digital marketing, promotion of the album and the “Clouds” visual, seed funding for band travel (when deemed safe to perform), building our live-sound rack for performances (mixer, in-ear monitor systems, and microphones), and any legal fees associated with publishing, sync opportunities, exploitation of the album.”
You can learn a lot about the campaign and Inez’s journey through the campaign video:
“COVID-19 has changed so much of the landscape for performing and touring musicians, but especially for independent artists. Going from a fully filled calendar of guaranteed shows and income, to a full stop with no “start back” date, has been difficult,” Inez (aka Danielle Walker) writes on the campaign. “When I factor in the current societal climate, racial tensions, wide-spread economic uncertainty, and human and physical devastation, many days, all I have left is my art, my heart and my purpose. Finding ways to wade these waters, so that all 3 of those things can give an old or new listener some hope, love and enjoyment – is my greatest challenge right now. With your financial backing, I will be able to execute the creative vision, marketing strategies, and reach necessary to overcome this.
“I’ve done so much in so little time, but with your contributions and help, I know that I can truly propel myself to the next level of artistry and performance. No contribution amount is too small.”
The campaign offers a variety of donor levels and perks that range from stickers, t-shirts and hoodies to producer credit, a hangout at a live show, and a private 30-minute concert.
