As events started canceling, schools started closing and caution wisely took hold in the wake of the Covid-19 global pandemic, we started to wonder what changes we would need to make in response.

Many, if not all, of the entertainment events that we cover, are now or will be canceled. Live sports are indefinitely suspended and we are all urged to limit our contact with others or assembling in large groups.

The first thing we realized is that for the time being, we need to suspend our print operations. But that doesn’t mean we’re going on hiatus. Our plan is to increase the amount of daily online coverage you see, including continuing coverage of the Covid-19 virus. For now, at least, there is still an important primary election happening on April 28. We still intend to cover those races and use our digital products, including our weekly web show, the Pittsburgh Current Podcast. Also, as events happen and public access is limited, we will do our best to be there for you.

On the day of our next issue, March 25, we will be creating a regular issue of the Current, but it will only be available in our digital issue format. It will be available on our website, or better yet, for the cost of an email address, we will deliver it directly to your inbox. You can find the email signup form on our home page. Going forward we will evaluate the situation before each issue before returning to print.
