The Port Authority announced Thursday morning that a third employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

Port Authority officials say the bus driver who worked out of the West Mifflin garage has been “in medically-directed self-quarantine since March 23, and has not been to work since March 13.”

After learning the employee’s diagnosis, a deep cleaning was performed at the West Mifflin garage and the busses the operator drove. These efforts were in addition to the enhanced vehicle cleanings that are already taking place across all Port Authority vehicles on a daily basis.

The Port Authority reported this case to the Allegheny County Health Department.

Port Authority has more than 2,600 employees, including 1,300 operators and 800 mechanics and are continuing to follow the protocols and guidance issued by public health authorities in addressing potential and confirmed COVID-19 cases.
